Closing Out Black History Month: Honoring Legacy, Building Generational Wealth

February 27, 2026

As Black History Month comes to a close, I find myself reflecting not only on the leaders we’ve learned about, but on the quiet strength of families whose stories may never make headlines — yet shape history all the same.

Black history is not just about the past. It is about legacy. It is about ownership. It is about resilience. And it is about building something that lasts.

Throughout history, access to property ownership and generational wealth has not always been equal. From discriminatory housing practices to limited financial opportunity, many barriers stood in the way of Black families securing and preserving real estate assets. Yet despite those obstacles, generations continued to build, to purchase homes, to create businesses, and to leave something behind for their children.

Today, I have the privilege of working with families navigating probate and inherited property. In many cases, the home being passed down represents more than a structure. It represents sacrifice. It represents long hours worked, risks taken, and dreams invested into brick and mortar.

When a family inherits property, they are not just handling paperwork — they are handling legacy.

Black History Month reminds us that wealth is not only measured in dollars. It is measured in land ownership, stability, opportunity, and the ability to pass down assets with clarity and confidence.

But preserving that legacy requires knowledge.

Understanding probate.
Understanding property rights.
Understanding estate planning.
Understanding how to protect what has been built.

Education is empowerment.

As we close out this month, I encourage families to have conversations about wills, estate planning, and asset protection. Not from a place of fear — but from a place of preparation. Planning today protects tomorrow’s legacy.

Black history is still being written.

Every home purchased.
Every will drafted.
Every property transferred responsibly.
Every family guided through the probate process with dignity and clarity.

That is history in motion.

I remain committed to helping families protect what matters most — not just property, but peace of mind.

As February ends, the work of honoring legacy continues.
